Paperscape

65 poems. (plus a bonus back cover poem)

Heavily illustrated in a colourful and scribbling style.

Chiefly about paper and connected themes of communication, creativity, stories, imagination, wisdom, and friendship.

Books and the enjoyment of books feature heavily.

Mostly light verse, whimsical, rhyming, wholesome, a little nonsensical, but very sincere in places.

It was funded by a kickstarter campaign in September 2017 and was published in January of 2018.

You can read some of the poems here and see some of the illustrations here.

Check it out on Amazon here!

The audiobook is now complete and available on Bandcamp.

The Second-Rate Poetry of S. M. Emtage

I once scribbled the following couplet on the corner of an envelope:

“At almost any given point in time

There is potential for a poem lurking somewhere in my mind”

This statement is more or less true, but they haven’t all turned out to be first-rate poems. This book exists because among these second-rate poems there are still many that I have a strong desire to inflict upon the world for one reason or other.

This volume is an opportunity to reveal some experimental pieces, some poems from my early childhood, some very peculiar poems, and some poems that just didn’t quite make the cut for Paperscape. They’re not terrible poems, but for various reasons this side collection seemed like the right place for them.

The book is also “second rate” in the literal sense since I’m selling it for about half the price of Paperscape. It still has illustrations, though not in colour, and about the same number of poems.

It was funded by the same  kickstarter as Paperscape and was published at the same time. You can check it out on Amazon.

Clay Castle

All my books are more or less appropriate for all ages, but this one will be a children’s book. I’ve been saving all my most whimsical and imaginative poems for this collection.

Cheese-Verse

G. K. Chesterton once wrote that “Poets have been mysteriously silent on the subject of cheese.” and  I’m doing my small part to correct this neglect by writing a short collection entirely about cheese.
